High-power linear-polarization burst-mode all-fibre laser and generation of frequency-adjustable microwave signal

Abstract Narrowband microwave generation with tuneable frequency is demonstrated by illuminating a photoconductive semiconductor switch (PCSS) burst-mode fibre laser. The whole system composed of high-power linearly polarized pulsed laser and linear-state PCSS. To obtain high-performance signal, desired envelope burst necessary pulse pre-compensation technique adopted to avoid distortion induced the gain-saturation effect. Resulting from technique, homogenous peak power distribution in each ensured. maximum energy reaches 200 ?J duration 100 ns at average 10 W, corresponding 4 kW. When PCSS illuminated laser, narrowband (0.80–1.12 GHz) obtained up 300 W. best authors’ knowledge, it first demonstration frequency-tuneable based on reported here has great potential for generating arbitrary signals deal applicable demands such as smart adaptive radar intelligent systems.
